3-Day Motorcycle Riding Itinerary for Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari - August 2023

  1. Day 1: Rameshwaram
    240 km (4 hours) from Madurai Airport

    Morning: Visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples of Lord Shiva, and take a dip in the sacred tank for blessings. Afternoon: Explore the Pamban Bridge, the longest rail bridge in India, which connects Rameshwaram to mainland India. Ride to Dhanuskodi, the ghost town destroyed by a cyclone in 1964, and witness the confluence of Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. Evening: Visit Agnitheertham, a holy place where Lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva and offer prayers to the deity.

  2. Day 2: Kanyakumari
    310 km (5 hours) from Rameshwaram

    Morning: Watch the sunrise at Kanyakumari beach and visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, a sacred monument dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, a spiritual guru who meditated here. Afternoon: Ride to Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple, a unique temple dedicated to three different deities - Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Brahma with a towering 134-feet high entrance. Evening: Visit the Thiruvalluvar Statue, a massive statue of the famous Tamil poet and philosopher, Thiruvalluvar. Enjoy the sunset view from here and witness the meeting point of Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean.

  3. Day 3: Kanyakumari
    Stay in Kanyakumari

    Morning: Explore the Padmanabhapuram Palace, an ancient palace built in traditional Kerala style architecture and marvel at the intricate wood carvings and murals. Afternoon: Visit the Gandhi Memorial Mandapam, a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. Evening: Enjoy a beach ride to Muttom Beach and indulge in some water sports such as surfing, snorkelling, and underwater diving. End the day by relishing some authentic local cuisine and shopping for souvenirs.
