2-Day Itinerary for Munnar in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Tea Plantations
    10 minutes (5.4 miles) from Munnar Town Centre

    In the morning, visit the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, one of the highest tea plantations in the world. Take a guided tour of the tea factory and learn about the tea-making process. Enjoy the scenic views of the Western Ghats as you sip on some freshly brewed tea. In the afternoon, head to the Lockhart Tea Museum to learn about the history of tea in Munnar and its impact on the local economy. In the evening, visit the Tea Museum, which is housed in a colonial-era bungalow, and learn about the evolution of tea production in Munnar.

  2. Day 2: Eravikulam National Park
    15 minutes (6.8 miles) from Munnar Town Centre

    In the morning, visit the Eravikulam National Park to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, a species of mountain goat that is native to the Western Ghats. Take a guided trek through the park and enjoy the stunning views of the Anamudi Peak. In the afternoon, head to the Mattupetty Dam and Lake for a relaxing boat ride. In the evening, drive to the Top Station to see the sunset over the Western Ghats.

If you have an extra day, visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary to see the endangered grizzled giant squirrel.
