2-Day Family-Friendly Mysore Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mysore Palace
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from your hotel

    In the morning, visit the iconic Mysore Palace, also known as the Amba Vilas Palace. Admire the Indo-Saracenic architecture and learn about the palace's fascinating history through the audio guide. Afternoon is the perfect time to visit the Mysore Zoo, home to more than 1500 animals. The zoo is known for its conservation efforts and the wide range of animals including the Bengaluru tiger, Indian rhinoceros and African elephants. In the evening, take a stroll around the Brindavan Gardens and witness the musical fountain show that takes place every evening.

  2. Day 2: Chamundi Hill
    20 minutes (8.2 km) from your hotel

    Start your day by visiting the Chamundeshwari Temple on top of the Chamundi Hill. The temple is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus and provides a breathtaking panoramic view of Mysore. Afterward, head to the nearby Nandi Statue, a 5-meter tall monolith carved out of a single black granite stone. In the afternoon, visit the Regional Museum of Natural History and learn about the flora and fauna of Southern India. In the evening, visit the St. Philomena's Church, a magnificent Gothic-style church that is over 200 years old.

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Karanji Lake Nature Park, which is home to more than 90 species of birds. You can also take a short day trip to the nearby town of Srirangapatna, which is known for its historical importance and the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. To maximize your fun, try the local cuisine, especially the Mysore Pak, a famous sweet dish made from gram flour, sugar, and ghee.
