Karnataka Tour in February 2024

  1. Day 1: Bangalore
    Arrive at Kempegowda International Airport
    30 minutes (21.2 km) from the airport to Lalbagh Botanical Garden
    15 minutes (4.2 km) from Lalbagh Botanical Garden to Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace

    Morning: Explore the 240-acre Lalbagh Botanical Garden which houses over 1000 species of flora and fauna. Don't miss the Glass House which is a replica of the Crystal Palace, London.
    Afternoon: Head to Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace which is known for its beautiful architecture, teakwood interiors and historical significance.
    Evening: Indulge in shopping at the nearby KR Market or Commercial Street.

  2. Day 2: Mysore
    3 hours 30 minutes (150 km) from Bangalore to Mysore
    30 minutes (1.5 km) from Mysore Palace to St. Philomena's Church

    Morning: Visit the magnificent Mysore Palace which is a combination of Indo-Saracenic, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles of architecture.
    Afternoon: Have lunch at the iconic and popular Mysore restaurant, Mylari. After lunch, head to the nearby St. Philomena's Church which is known for its stained glass windows and Gothic architecture.
    Evening: Take a walk around the beautiful Brindavan Gardens and witness the musical fountain show.

  3. Day 3: Hampi
    6 hours (345 km) from Mysore to Hampi

    Morning: Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi which is known for its beautiful temples, ruins and boulders. Don't miss the Virupaksha Temple, Vittala Temple, and the Lotus Mahal.
    Afternoon: Have lunch at Mango Tree which is known for its beautiful view of the river and delicious food. After lunch, head to the nearby Sanapur Lake which is perfect for swimming and relaxing.
    Evening: Watch the beautiful sunset from the top of Anjaneya Hill and witness the stunning panoramic view of Hampi.

  4. Day 4: Coorg
    6 hours (300 km) from Hampi to Coorg
    30 minutes (20 km) from Dubare Elephant Camp to Abbey Falls

    Morning: Visit the Dubare Elephant Camp and witness the majestic elephants being bathed and fed.
    Afternoon: Head to the beautiful Abbey Falls which is surrounded by coffee and spice plantations. Have lunch at the nearby Raintree Restaurant which is known for its delicious Coorgi cuisine.
    Evening: Visit the Namdroling Monastery which is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. Witness the beautiful Golden Temple and the prayer ceremonies.

Recommendations

Don't miss the famous Mysore Dasara festival which takes place in October. You can also take a side trip to the nearby Bandipur National Park to witness the beautiful flora and fauna. To maximize your fun, try the local delicacies like Mysore Pak and Coorgi Pork Curry. Don't forget to take home some coffee and spices as souvenirs.
