4-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Munnar in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam
    20 minutes (9.6 km) from Munnar town

    In the morning, visit the Mattupetty Dam, a popular picnic spot located near the Anamudi Peak. Enjoy scenic views of the surrounding mountains and spot some local wildlife. In the afternoon, head to the Echo Point, which is located close by. As the name suggests, this point is known for its natural echo phenomenon and is surrounded by lush green forests. In the evening, visit the Kundala Lake which offers boat rides and is a great spot to relax and enjoy the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Eravikulam National Park
    30 minutes (12.5 km) from Munnar town

    In the morning, visit the famous Eravikulam National Park to get a glimpse of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. This park is known for its rolling grasslands and is a popular spot for trekking. In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum, located nearby to learn about the history of tea cultivation in Munnar and sample some local tea. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Meesapulimala, which is the second-highest peak in South India and is a popular spot for trekking. In the evening, head back to Munnar town and enjoy a relaxing Ayurvedic massage at one of the local spas.

Other local attractions worth considering are the Attukal Waterfalls, the Rose Garden, and the Carmelagiri Elephant Park.
