4-Day Honeymoon Itinerary for Manali and Shimla in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Manali
    From Kullu–Manali Airport, 50 minutes (31.9 km) to Manali

    Start your honeymoon by arriving in Manali and checking into your hotel. In the morning, visit the Hadimba Devi Temple, which is surrounded by cedar forests and is an excellent example of ancient Indian architecture. In the afternoon, visit the Manali Nature Park, which features a variety of flora and fauna, including deodar trees and Himalayan black bears. In the evening, stroll along the Mall Road, where you can shop for souvenirs and enjoy local street food.

  2. Day 2: Rohtang Pass
    2 hours 20 minutes (51.6 km) from Manali

    Set out early in the morning for a scenic drive to Rohtang Pass, which is famous for its stunning views and adventure activities such as skiing and snowboarding. Spend the day exploring the pass and taking in the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding mountains. Make sure to bring warm clothing as it can get cold at such high altitudes. Return to Manali in the evening for a romantic candlelit dinner.

  3. Day 3: Travel to Shimla
    7 hours 30 minutes (250 km) from Manali

    Check out of your hotel in Manali and travel to Shimla. Along the way, stop at the Kullu Shawl Factory and witness the intricate process of shawl weaving. In the afternoon, visit the Viceregal Lodge, which was once the summer residence of the British Viceroy of India. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll along the Ridge, a wide-open street in the heart of Shimla that offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

  4. Day 4: Explore Shimla

    Start your day by visiting the Jakhu Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu deity Hanuman and offers panoramic views of Shimla. In the afternoon, visit the Shimla State Museum, which features exhibits on the history, art, and culture of the region. In the evening, take a ride on the Kalka–Shimla Railway, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Recommendations

While in Manali, consider taking a day trip to Solang Valley, which is known for adventure activities such as paragliding and zorbing. You could also visit the Naggar Castle, which was built in the 16th century and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. If you have time, consider taking a side trip to Kasol, which is a beautiful village known for its scenic hiking trails and peaceful atmosphere. To maximize your fun, make sure to try the local cuisine, which includes dishes such as kullu trout and sidu, a type of bread stuffed with walnuts and raisins.
