Transportation in Miami can be challenging during peak tourist season. Renting a car is a good option if you plan to venture outside of the city, but parking can be expensive. The best way to get around the city is by ride-sharing or taking public transportation such as the bus, metro rail, or trolley. Expect to spend around $20-$40 per day on transportation depending on your activities and distance traveled.
If you have more time, consider exploring other neighborhoods such as Little Haiti, Coconut Grove, or Key Biscayne. For a relaxing day, head to the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens or take a boat tour in Biscayne Bay. If you have less time, skip Little Havana and opt for a trip to the Everglades or a day cruise to the Bahamas.
There are two airports serving Miami: Miami International Airport (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). MIA is located 13 minutes from South Beach and is the main gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. FLL is located in Fort Lauderdale and is about 45 minutes from Miami. Both airports have plenty of ground transportation options available.
