2-Day Hyderabad Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Charminar
    18 minutes (6.3 km) from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

    In the morning, head to the iconic Charminar monument, built in 1591. Explore the surrounding markets, selling traditional bangles, pearls, and other souvenirs. For lunch, try the famous Hyderabadi biryani at Paradise Restaurant, just a 7-minute walk from Charminar. In the afternoon, visit the Chowmahalla Palace, a stunning example of the Nizams' architecture. End the day with a stroll through the Lumbini Park, located on the banks of the Hussain Sagar lake, and take a boat ride to see the Buddha statue in the middle of the lake.

  2. Day 2: Golconda Fort
    20 minutes (7.6 km) from Lumbini Park

    Start the day with a visit to the Golconda Fort, a fortress built in the 16th century, famous for its acoustics and the light and sound show. It takes about 2-3 hours to explore the fort, so you may want to bring water and snacks. For lunch, head to Bawarchi Restaurant, located just 15 minutes away, and try their delicious mutton biryani. In the afternoon, visit the Salar Jung Museum, the third-largest museum in India, showcasing a diverse collection of artefacts from around the world. End the day with a visit to the Qutub Shahi Tombs, a group of tombs and mosques built by the Qutub Shahi dynasty.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Ramoji Film City, the largest film studio complex in the world, located about an hour outside the city. You can also take a day trip to the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, one of the largest masonry dams in the world. To maximise your fun, try the famous Irani chai at Nimrah Cafe, located near Charminar, and take a walk through the old city to explore the architecture and history of Hyderabad.
