3-Day Nature Itinerary in Munnar in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam
    23 minutes (9.8 miles) from Munnar

    Start your day with a refreshing visit to the Mattupetty Dam. Enjoy the scenic drive along the winding roads with lush greenery. Take a boat ride on the lake and admire the surrounding hills, watch out for the occasional elephant sightings by the shores. In the afternoon have lunch at the nearby restaurant and savor the local Kerala cuisine. End your day by visiting the Echo Point and scream your heart out to hear your voice reverberate in the mountains.

  2. Day 2: Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

    Begin your day early and take a guided tour to the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to the endangered grizzled giant squirrel, the threatened Nilgiri Tahr and many other animals and birds. Watch them in their natural habitat and experience the wilderness. In the afternoon, visit the Thoovanam Waterfalls, it's a pleasant trek through the forest. End your day with a visit to the Marayoor Sandalwood Forests and learn about the ancient Dolmen structures.

  3. Day 3: Eravikulam National Park

    Spend your day in the Eravikulam National Park, which is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and other fauna and flora. Take a guided tour and learn about the different species. The park offers a wonderful opportunity to trek up to the Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India. In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum and learn about the tea-making process, sample different varieties of tea, and buy some souvenirs. End your day by strolling around the beautiful Rose Garden.
