2-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Mysore in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mysore Palace
    15 minutes (3.5km) from your hotel

    In the morning, visit the magnificent Mysore Palace which is the pride and joy of Mysore. A blend of Hindu, Islamic, Gothic and Rajput styles, this palace is a feast for the eyes. Take a stroll through the sprawling gardens and learn about the history and culture surrounding the palace. For lunch, head over to Anima Madhva Bhavan, a vegetarian restaurant that serves delicious South Indian cuisine. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Mysore Zoo. This zoo is home to over 150 species of animals, and offers a safari ride through the park. In the evening, visit the Brindavan Gardens which is a beautifully landscaped garden with colourful fountains that come to life after sunset.

  2. Day 2: Chamundi Hill
    30 minutes (11km) from your hotel

    Start your day by driving up to Chamundi Hill, named after the Goddess Chamundeshwari. It is one of the most popular attractions in Mysore and offers breathtaking views of the city. Visit the Chamundeshwari Temple, which is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess. For lunch, head to Dasaprakash, a popular vegetarian restaurant that serves a variety of South Indian dishes. In the afternoon, head to the Rail Museum where you can see antique train engines and carriages, and learn about the history of railways in India. In the evening, head to St. Philomena's Church which is one of the tallest churches in Asia and is known for its neo-Gothic architecture.

Be sure to check out the Karanji Lake Nature Park which is a bird sanctuary that also offers boating and butterfly parks. For a day trip, visit the nearby town of Srirangapatna which is known for its rich history and cultural significance.
