Relaxing 2-Day Itinerary in Mysore, July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mysore Palace
    10 minutes (2.1 km) from Mysore Railway Station

    Start your day early with a visit to Mysore Palace, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Mysore. Admire the stunning architecture, intricate carvings and beautiful paintings that adorn the palace walls. Spend the morning exploring the palace and its vast courtyards. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Devaraja Market, located just a 5-minute drive away. Wander through the colorful stalls selling everything from spices to silk sarees. End the day by watching the Sound and Light Show at the palace, which takes place every evening and highlights the history of the Wadiyar dynasty.

  2. Day 2: Chamundi Hill
    20 minutes (8 km) from Mysore Palace

    Escape the hustle and bustle of the city by taking a trip to Chamundi Hill. Start your day with a hike to the top of the hill, which takes about an hour. Once at the top, visit the Chamundeshwari Temple, a stunning piece of Dravidian architecture dating back to the 12th century. Afterward, make your way to Sand Museum and become mesmerized by the intricate sculptures all made of sand. Finally, visit the Kukkarahalli Lake, a serene spot in the heart of the city. Spend the evening relaxing by the lake, taking in the sunset and enjoying a picnic.

If you have time, consider visiting the Brindavan Gardens, located just 20 minutes (16 km) away from Mysore. The garden is especially famous for the Musical Fountain show that takes place every evening.
