Hyderabad Family-Friendly Itinerary for September 2023

  1. Day 1: Charminar
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

    Inaugurated in 1591, Charminar is a cultural and historical monument which is a must-visit attraction in Hyderabad. You can start your day by enjoying some delicious breakfast at one of the local cafes and then head to Charminar. Spend your morning witnessing the amazing architecture of the monument that represents Hyderabad's rich heritage. Visit the nearby Laad Bazaar for some shopping and delicious street food for lunch. Post-lunch head to the Salar Jung Museum, one of the country's oldest museums, and admire the unique collection of art and artefacts from different countries and cultures. In the evening, head to the Lumbini Park for a scenic boat ride and light and sound show.

  2. Day 2: Ramoji Film City
    45 minutes (28 km) from Charminar

    Start the day early and visit Ramoji Film City, the world's largest integrated film studio complex. It is a fun-filled destination for the whole family, filled with thrilling rides, live shows, and movie sets. Spend your morning and afternoon enjoying the various activities. You can also have lunch at one of the many restaurants inside the complex. Post-lunch you can visit the Golconda Fort, a UNESCO world heritage site that dates back to the 16th century. This fort is known for its unique architecture and the Sound and Light show that takes place in the evening.

  3. Day 3: Nehru Zoological Park
    25 minutes (16 km) from Ramoji Film City

    Start your day by visiting the Nehru Zoological Park, which is one of the largest zoos in Asia and home to over 1000 animals from different species. You can spend your morning enjoying the various animal exhibits and shows. Post-lunch, visit the nearby Hussain Sagar Lake and take a boat ride to the famous Buddha Statue. After the boat ride, head to the nearby Birla Mandir, a stunning temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara. End your day with some delicious biryani at one of the local restaurants that serve authentic Hyderabadi cuisine.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can visit the Chowmahalla Palace, a beautiful palace with stunning architecture. You can also take a day trip to the nearby Bidar Fort or visit the Osman Sagar Lake for some scenic views and a peaceful time. Do not forget to try some famous Hyderabadi sweets like Double ka Meetha and Khubani ka Meetha.
