5-Day Nepal Cultural Immersion Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kathmandu Durbar Square

    Explore the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with stunning Newari architecture.   3. Day 3: Bhaktapur Durbar Square
    40 minutes (9.6 miles) from Pashupatinath Temple

    Take a day trip to Bhaktapur, one of the three ancient royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley. Explore the well-preserved Bhaktapur Durbar Square with its majestic palace, temples, and courtyards. Walk along the narrow streets and alleys to admire the traditional Newari architecture and observe the locals going about their daily lives. In the evening, return to Kathmandu and try some local momos, a type of dumpling, at a street vendor.

  4. Day 4: Boudhanath Stupa
    20 minutes (5.7 miles) from Bhaktapur Durbar Square

    Visit Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk around the stupa, spin the prayer wheels, and observe the monks and nuns performing their daily rituals. In the afternoon, visit the Patan Museum, housed in a restored Malla palace, and learn about the history and art of the Kathmandu Valley. End the day with a sunset view from the rooftop terrace of the Ason marketplace.

  5. Day 5: Chitwan National Park
    5 hours (106 miles) from Boudhanath Stupa

    Take a day trip to Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers, rhinos, and elephants. Take a jungle safari to explore the park and observe the animals in their natural habitat. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Tharu cultural dance performance and dinner at a local restaurant.

Consider taking a day trip to Nagarkot to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas. You can also visit the Kopan Monastery for a meditation retreat or take a cooking class to learn how to make Nepali cuisine. To maximize your fun, try paragliding in Pokhara or go on a trek to Annapurna Base Camp.
