5-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Mysore in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mysore Palace
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Mysore Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, explore the Mysore Palace. This majestic palace is a blend of Indo-Saracenic, Dravidian, and Gothic architectural styles. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery and Auditorium to admire the art collection. In the evening, visit the beautiful Brindavan Gardens and witness the musical fountain show.

  2. Day 2: Chamundi Hill
    20 minutes (8.3 km) from Mysore Palace

    In the morning, take a scenic drive to Chamundi Hill and climb the 1000 steps to reach the top of the hill for breathtaking views of the city. In the afternoon, visit the Bull Temple which is located at the foot of the hill and houses a huge monolithic Nandi statue. In the evening, visit the St. Philomena's Cathedral, one of the largest churches in India.

  3. Day 3: Mysore Zoo
    20 minutes (6.5 km) from Chamundi Hill

    In the morning, visit the Mysore Zoo which has a wide range of animals and birds including the rare white tiger. In the afternoon, head to the Regional Museum of Natural History to learn about the flora and fauna of the Western Ghats. In the evening, take a stroll in the beautiful Karanji Lake Nature Park.

  4. Day 4: Srirangapatna
    30 minutes (18 km) from Mysore Zoo

    In the morning, visit the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary and take a boat ride to see the migratory birds. In the afternoon, head to the island fortress of Srirangapatna, the erstwhile capital of Tipu Sultan. Visit the Ranganathaswamy Temple, Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace and the Gumbaz Mausoleum. In the evening, enjoy the sunset at the Balmuri Falls.

  5. Day 5: Brindavan Gardens
    30 minutes (22 km) from Srirangapatna

    In the morning, visit the KRS Dam and the adjoining Cauvery Handicrafts Emporium for some souvenir shopping. In the afternoon, head back to the Brindavan Gardens for a peaceful stroll and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. In the evening, wrap up your trip with a visit to the Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum.
