The Mattupetty Dam is a beautiful spot for nature lovers. The dam’s reservoir offers a scenic view and is an ideal spot for boat rides. It is surrounded by tea gardens and forests. After, head to Kundala Lake – a serene place to relax and take a walk. You can go pedal boating or enjoy a shikara ride on the lake. It also offers an incredible view of the surrounding valley. If time permits, visit the Echo Point located nearby, famous for its echoes.
Eravikulam National Park is a beautiful nature reserve that is home to exotic flora and fauna, including the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. It is open to visitors during designated periods with entry ticket that needs to be booked in advance. The park also offers a trek to the scenic Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India. The Tata Tea Museum is located nearby to know more about the history of tea cultivation while appreciating the serene beauty of the gardens. You can sample fresh tea and shop for souvenirs or tea to take back home.
If you have more time, you can visit the Attukal Waterfalls, Anayirankal Dam or Top Station. However, if you have less time, skip Echo Point, and visit the Tea Plantations, Pothamedu Viewpoint instead. Pack sunscreen, hats, and comfortable shoes.
