2-Day Itinerary to Vaishno Devi

Thursday August 17: Arrival in Katra

Begin your journey by arriving in Katra, the base camp for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. After checking into your hotel, start your morning by visiting the Banganga Temple, a small shrine located at the starting point of the trek to Vaishno Devi. This serene spot is believed to be the place where Mata Vaishno Devi quenched her thirst. Spend the afternoon exploring the main bazaar of Katra, where you can find a variety of shops selling religious items, souvenirs, and local handicrafts. In the evening, visit the Ardh Kuwari Cave, which is halfway to the Vaishno Devi shrine. This cave holds special significance as it is believed that Mata Vaishno Devi meditated here for nine months.

Along the way, you will come across several resting points and refreshment stalls. The climb can be challenging, but the breathtaking views and the sense of spirituality make it a truly rewarding experience. After reaching the Bhawan, offer your prayers and seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi. Hidden Gems and Local Favorites

While in Katra, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Baba Dhansar Temple, located about 10 kilometers from the town. This picturesque temple is surrounded by lush green forests and a beautiful waterfall, creating a tranquil atmosphere. Another hidden gem is the Shivkhori Cave Temple, situated around 70 kilometers from Katra. This cave temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and houses a naturally formed shivling, which is believed to be one of the largest in the world. Both these off the beaten path attractions offer a unique spiritual experience and are beloved by locals.
