Begin your first day in Agra with a visit to the iconic and majestic Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 16th century, this fortress is a testimony to the grandeur of the Mughal Empire era and houses numerous palaces, gates, and beautiful gardens. Admire the intricate carvings and architecture and immerse yourself in the history of India.
On the second day, start off early to catch the stunning sunrise at the world-famous Taj Mahal, the epitome of love and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is an exquisite ivory-white marble mausoleum and a symbol of eternal love. Spend your day admiring the majestic monument and strolling through the lush gardens and reflecting pools.
Head over to Fatehpur Sikri, an abandoned sandstone city that was once the capital of the Mughal Empire. It boasts spectacular architectural masterpieces like the Buland Darwaza and Jama Masjid. Later, visit the Tomb of Akbar, a beautiful mausoleum made of red sandstone and white marble. It is a tribute to one of the finest emperors of the Mughal dynasty.
On your last day, visit the serene Mehtab Bagh, a beautiful garden complex located opposite the Taj Mahal. Admire the stunning views and soak in the peace and tranquillity. In the evening, indulge in some souvenir shopping at the local bazaars and pick up some beautiful marble handicrafts and traditional jewellery to take back home.
If you have more time, you can visit the Itmad-ud-Daula or the Baby Taj, a magnificent tomb made from white marble. You can also take a food tour and try some delectable local cuisine. If you have less time, you can skip Fatehpur Sikri or Mehtab Bagh. Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes to make the most of the trip.
