Start your trip with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park, which houses the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and a diverse range of flora. Take a guided bus tour inside the park and revel in the breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. The park is open from 8 am to 4:30 pm on all days except for February to April when it is closed for visitors due to lambing season.
Visit the Echo Point in the morning to hear your voice reverberate around the serene lake. Next, travel further up the mountains to the Top Station viewpoint, which provides a panoramic view of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Take a hike or rent a bike and cruise through the tea estates on your way back. Be sure to carry some warm clothes as it can get chilly up there.
Start the day with a picnic at the Mattupetty Dam. Take a boat ride or a trek along the Shola forest paths after a delicious lunch. Continue the journey to Kundala Lake, which is surrounded by rolling hills and lush gardens. Visit the Tea Museum on your way back and relish a warm cup of 'Chai'.
On your last day, visit the Attukad Waterfalls, which is ideal for a morning hike or a picnic. Take a dip in the pools and enjoy the serenity of the falls. Next, visit the Pothamedu Viewpoint , which gives a bird's eye view of the valleys, coffee, and cardamom plantations. Take a relaxing walk around the hills if time permits or grab a souvenir from the local markets.
If you have additional time, you may include visits to the Tata Tea Museum, Nyayamkadu Waterfalls, Lockhart Gap, or Anamudi Peak. If you have less time, you may skip Kundala Lake and choose a visit to the Rose Garden or Cheeyappara Waterfalls instead. Please carry warm clothes as the temperature can dip in the evening. Avoid visiting during monsoon season (June-August) when there are high chances of landslides. Also, try the local delicacies and buy some tea bags as souvenirs to take back with you.
