Grande Island is a top destination to go scuba diving in Goa. The island is located about 7 km from the northern tip of Vasco da Gama, South Goa. You'll be picked up from your hotel in North Goa early in the morning, and taken to the island via a boat ride (included in the package). On the way, you'll notice the famous monkey beach and spy dolphins en route. Upon arrival, your scuba instructor will brief you about the safety procedures and how you'll breathe underwater. You'll then dive with your instructor (or alone if you're a certified diver) in the shallow, crystal-clear waters of the Arabian Sea. You'll see coral reefs with all kinds of unique sea life such as lobsters, crabs, lionfish, groupers, and much more!
Chapora River is a perfect spot for kayaking in North Goa. Here, you'll have a chance to explore the peaceful backwaters and spot many different birds along the way. The best time for kayaking is in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and to experience magical sunsets or sunrises. Some tour operators offer a package that will take you to see Chapora Fort, where you can trek and enjoy the panoramic view of the river and dense greenery.
Dudhsagar Waterfalls is one of the highest waterfalls in India located in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. From the base camp at Mollem, you can hike through the dense forest, cross streams and reach the bottom of the falls. The water cascades from a height of 310 meters, creating a cloud of mist all around. You can swim in the natural pool, have a picnic, and indulge in a fresh-water outdoor shower. Note that the water flow is seasonal and during the monsoon season, it becomes very dangerous. It is open to the public from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily.
If you're looking for an adrenaline-pumping thrill and views, a hot air balloon ride in Assolda Grounds is a must-do adventure. Balloons travel where the wind takes them, providing breathtaking bird's-eye views of the beautiful countryside and coastline. Balloons generally fly early mornings or evenings, depending on the weather and the season. You will be able to see green valleys, fields, forests, coconut groves, and much more.
If you have more time, you can venture on a jungle safari in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of wild animals and birds like the leopard, sloth bear, bison and hornbills. You can also enjoy other water activities such as snorkeling and stand-up paddling at Calangute Beach.
If you have less time, you may want to skip the hot air balloon ride, which is weather-dependent.
