Four Days in Munnar: A Scenic Retreat to India's Hill Station

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam

For adrenaline junkies, there is also an option for horse riding and trekking around the dam.

The park covers 97 sq km and is home to an endangered species of mountain goat called Nilgiri Tahr. The best time to visit is from October to November when the park's valley is covered with blooming mass of purplish-blue flowers called Neelakurinji. You can take a shuttle bus service inside the park. Beware of monkeys, and don't carry plastic or food inside the park.

    Munnar is renowned for its flourishing tea plantations which produce some of the world's finest tea. Visit the Tea Museum, where you can learn about the process of tea production, see some antique tea-making equipment, and have a tea tasting experience. The museum is located near the Nallathanni Estate, and the entrance fee is INR 120 per person. Savor the aromatic flavors of tea and take some back home.

  4. Day 4: Top Station
    55 minutes (33.9 km) from Munnar

    Finally, witness the breathtaking views of the Western Ghats from the highest point on Munnar-Top Station. Located on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, it offers a magnificent view of the valley. You can go for a short hike in the area and witness the awe-inspiring Nilgiri plants and other flora. Do carry a windbreaker or warm clothes as it can get very chilly. The entrance fee is INR 20, and the best time to visit is from September to May.
