Start your day by heading to the Eravikulam National Park, home to several endangered species of animals and birds, especially the Nilgiri Tahr. Take a guided trek on the soft slopes amidst the shola-grassland ecosystem, giving way to spectacular views of Anamudi Peak. Wildlife enthusiasts will have a great experience here. Next up, visit Mattupetty Dam, a concrete gravity dam that offers dam tourism activities such as speed boating and motorboat riding in the emerald waters. This dam is a perfect spot for photographs with its background of tea plantations and mountains. Relax for lunch at a nearby cafe and then visit the picturesque Kundala Lake. Rent a peddle boat and enjoy the serene surroundings. Visit the Echo Point, a natural high-altitude tourist spot with a resonating echo that reverberates in the lush valleys and hills. Don't miss the chance to click creative photographs amidst the misty lakes and rolling hills. Return to Munnar town and visit the famous Tea Museum, where you can witness the art of tea processing and savour a cup of fresh tea while gazing at the delightful scenic beauty of tea gardens.
Start your day by witnessing the spectacular natural beauty of one of Munnar's most picturesque and breath-taking valleys, the Top Station. It is situated at an altitude of 2000 meters between the Tamil Nadu and Kerala borders. It’s the place to enjoy the captivating view and the silent, refreshing breath of the mountains. Note that the Top Station is closed in the monsoon season from July to October. Next up, visit the Marayoor Sandalwood Forests, Kerala's only natural sandalwood forest where you can spot ancient dolmens and get mesmerized by the aroma of sandalwood. Visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, a biodiversity hotspot, home to myriad species of animals and birds, including the grizzled giant squirrel and star tortoise. After lunch, visit the alluring Attukad Waterfalls, surrounded by the hills and abundant vegetation. Laze on the lush green banks and take a refreshing bath in the gushing waters. End your day with a visit to Lockhart Gap, a breathtaking viewpoint atop a steep cliff.
If you have more time, visit the Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary and trek to the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate. If you have a lesser number of days, we recommend skipping the Marayoor Sandalwood Forests and the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. Visiting during the monsoon season may result in blocked roads and staying near the city centre may be preferable.
