Start your day by driving through the winding roads of Munnar to visit Top Station, located at an altitude of 1700 meters. During June, Top Station's rolling hills look like a sea of emerald green as far as the eye can see, making it a perfect place for a family photo. If you want to enjoy a peaceful picnic, continue on to Mattupetty Dam, surrounded by rolling hills which overlook a delightful lake of serene waters. If you're interested, you can take a boat ride in the dam. After lunch, head back to your hotel and spend the evening with your family.
Today, head to the Eravikulam National Park and witness endangered species such as the Nilgiri Tahr. During June, you can see the blooming of blue Neelakurinji flowers that grow once every 12 years, painting the landscape into a jaw-dropping blue. In the afternoon visit the Tea Museum, housed in a tea factory, where you can experience the history and production of tea, including a tea tasting session. For dinner, head back to Munnar town and try some of the local cuisines.
On your last day, visit the Anamudi Peak, located in the Western Ghats mountain range and known for its breathtaking view of the Western Ghats. If you're interested in trekking, trek to the top of this peak, it is undoubtedly breathtaking. In the afternoon, visit the Kundala Lake, a picturesque lake ideal for activities such as boating, cycling, and horse riding. Alternatively, a peaceful walk around its shoreline with the best views of the Munnar hills could also provide a calming and wholesome experience.
If you have more time, you can also visit the Rose Garden, and Echo Point. If you have less time, give Kundala Lake, the Tea Museum, and Eravikulam National Park a miss. Remember that June is peak season in Munnar; therefore, pre-book your accommodations and entry tickets to avoid long waiting queues. While traveling, stay hydrated and carry some snacks, as the locations mentioned are in remote areas.
