Wake up early for an exhilarating trek through the Eravikulam National Park, home to endangered Nilgiri Tahr, a mountain goat found only in the South Western Ghats. Take in the breathtaking views of the Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India. Keep an eye out for other rare wildlife and birds that call this park home. After the trek, head to Mattupetty Dam, a popular spot for boating with stunning views of the surrounding hills.
End your trip with a visit to the quaint villages of Marayoor and Kanthalloor, known for their vast expanse of sandalwood forests and fruit orchards. Take a leisurely walk through the aromatic sandalwood forest, enjoy the fresh and luscious fruits like apples, strawberries, guava, etc. Later, visit the ancient rock paintings in Marayoor, dating back to the Stone Age. These paintings depict the daily life and rituals of the people who used to live here. If you have more time, consider visiting the Tea Museum, a 30-minute drive from the town of Munnar. For a bit of adventure, try trekking to the top of the Meesapulimala Peak, the second tallest peak in South India. If you have less time, you can skip the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary visit or visit only Marayoor/Kanthalloor.
