4-Day Itinerary for Munnar in May 2023

  1. Day 1: Tea Museum
    10 minutes (3.7 km) from Munnar town

    Visit the Tea Museum, which showcases the history of tea plantations in Munnar. You will learn about the evolution of tea processing, types of tea and their medicinal values. The museum is located in a beautiful tea estate and offers panoramic views of Munnar's hills and valleys.

  2. Day 2: Eravikulam National Park
    45 minutes (16 km) from Tea Museum

    Explore the Eravikulam National Park which is famous for the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. You can take a guided trekking tour inside the park to the summit of Anamudi, the highest peak in South India, or stroll through the park and spot other endemic flora and fauna. The park is closed during the breeding season from February to April.

  3. Day 3: Top Station
    2 hours (40 km) from Eravikulam National Park

    Top Station is located at the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala and is popular for its panoramic view of the Western Ghats. You can take a scenic drive up to Top Station and then hike for about 3 km to reach the viewpoint. The view from the top is breathtaking, and you can see as far as Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu.

  4. Day 4: Mattupetty Dam
    1 hour 20 minutes (33 km) from Top Station

    End your trip with a visit to the Mattupetty Dam, an ideal picnic spot with a scenic view of the lake and the tea gardens. You can take a boat ride or go for a quick hike to the Shola Forest nearby. There is a dairy farm run by the Indo-Swiss Livestock Project at the entrance of the dam, where you can see cows being milked and buy some fresh milk and dairy products.
