Three Days in Munnar Itinerary - May 2023

  1. Day 1: Eravikulam National Park
    20 minutes (8.2 km) from Munnar Town

    Eravikulam National Park is a must-visit attraction in Munnar known for its endangered inhabitant - the Nilgiri Tahr. It's also the first national park in Kerala, spanning over 97 square kilometers of lush green hills and valleys, making it an ideal spot for trekking. In May, the park is lush green and makes for a great escape from the scorching heat. You can head out for a trek or take a guided tour to spot the Nilgiri Tahr. The park also offers stunning panoramic views of the valley below.

  2. Day 2: Mattupetty Dam
    45 minutes (14.5 km) from Eravikulam National Park

    Mattupetty Dam is a beautiful spot in Munnar, surrounded by lush green hills and forests. It's an ideal spot for a picnic with family and friends, and you can also take a boat ride on the serene waters. The dam is also a starting point for trekking enthusiasts who can venture into the nearby Shola forest. You can also visit the nearby dairy farm and try out fresh milk and other dairy products.

  3. Day 3: Tea Museum
    15 minutes (5.2 km) from Mattupetty Dam

    The Tea Museum in Munnar is an excellent place to learn about the history and production of tea in the region. You can take a guided tour and see the various stages of tea processing, from plucking the leaves to packaging. The museum also has a tea tasting session where you can sample different varieties of tea. The building itself is a colonial-era bungalow and houses antique tea processing equipment and machines. The museum is an excellent place to buy some authentic tea to take home as a souvenir.
