Start your day by visiting the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has a long and rich history and is known for its intricate architecture and religious significance. After this, head to the Dashashwamedh Ghat, one of the oldest and busiest ghats in Varanasi. Here you can witness the spectacular Ganga aarti in the evening, a Hindu ritual that involves fire, music, and prayer.
On your second day, visit Sarnath, one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. Here you can explore the numerous stupas, temples, and museums that showcase the rich history and art of Buddhism. After this, head to the Banaras Hindu University, one of the largest and most prestigious universities in India. The sprawling campus is home to numerous faculties, museums, and parks, making it a great place to spend an afternoon.
If you have extra time, consider taking a boat ride on the Ganga river or exploring the numerous small lanes and alleys in the old city of Varanasi. You can also try some of the local street food such as chaat, lassi, or paan. Make sure to stay hydrated and wear comfortable shoes as the city can be quite crowded and hot in June.
