3-Day Relaxation Itinerary for Punjab in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Golden Temple
    15 minutes (3 km) from Amritsar Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Golden Temple, the most famous landmark of Amritsar. The temple is a spiritual and cultural centre for the Sikh community. Afternoon, have a traditional "langar" (community kitchen) meal at the temple, followed by exploring the Jallianwala Bagh, which is a memorial of the Amritsar massacre in 1919. In the evening, watch the Wagah Border Ceremony, a daily military practice that marks the closing of the India-Pakistan border.

  2. Day 2: Rock Garden
    20 minutes (7 km) from the Golden Temple

    In the morning, head to the unique Rock Garden in Chandigarh. The garden is a sculpture garden built from recycled materials, such as discarded glass, bangles, tiles, and ceramic pots. Afternoon, visit the Sukhna Lake, a peaceful and serene spot where you can enjoy boating and birdwatching. In the evening, take a stroll in Sector 17, the shopping and entertainment hub of Chandigarh.

  3. Day 3: Bathinda Fort and Thermal Plant
    3 hours (190 km) from Chandigarh

    In the morning, visit the Bathinda Fort, which dates back to the 6th century. The fort has been renovated many times and is now open to the public as a museum. Afternoon, head to the Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant, which is one of the largest thermal power plants in India. You can take a guided tour of the plant. In the evening, watch the sunset at the Qila Mubarak, a historical monument that was built in 100 AD.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit the Harmandir Sahib Museum inside the Golden Temple complex. You can also take a day trip to the Wagah Border or the Ranthambore National Park for a wildlife safari.
