Exploring Munnar in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam
    30 minutes (9.2km) from Munnar town

    Morning: Enjoy the beautiful views of the dam, hills, and tea plantations. Take a boat ride or go for a trek in the nearby Shola forest.
    Afternoon: Visit the Indo-Swiss dairy farm nearby and learn about cattle breeding and farming techniques.
    Evening: Check out the Echo Point and listen to your echoes or go for a stroll in the nearby tea gardens.

  2. Day 2: Top Station
    2 hours (38.3km) from Mattupetty Dam

    Morning: Drive to Top Station and experience the stunning views of Western Ghats and Tamil Nadu from the highest point of Munnar.
    Afternoon: Visit the Kundala Lake and enjoy boating, cycling or horse riding.
    Evening: Learn about the history of the tea plantations in the Tea Museum and sip on some freshly brewed tea.

  3. Day 3: Eravikulam National Park
    40 minutes (12.8km) from Top Station

    Morning: Explore the beautiful national park and spot some endangered species such as Nilgiri Tahr and Atlas Moth.
    Afternoon: Visit the nearby Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India, and trek to the summit if possible.
    Evening: Stroll through the Munnar town market and try out some local delicacies.

Recommendations

Don't miss the beautiful Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, the highest organic tea plantation in the world. You can take a Jeep safari to the plantations and learn about the process of tea-making. You can also visit the Marayoor sandalwood forest, the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, or the picturesque Attukad Waterfall. If you have more time, consider a side trip to the nearby hill stations of Ooty or Kodaikanal.
