Nepal Honeymoon Itinerary - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kathmandu
    25 minutes (4.5km) from Tribhuvan International Airport
    • Pashupatinath Temple (2 hours): A sacred Hindu temple complex with numerous shrines, ghats, and cremation sites. Explore the intricate architecture and observe the daily rituals and ceremonies.
    • Boudhanath Stupa (1.5 hours): A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest stupas in the world. Walk around the base of the stupa and spin the prayer wheels while taking in the peaceful atmosphere.
    • Durbar Square (2 hours): A historic square with numerous temples, palaces, and courtyards. Marvel at the intricate wood carvings and architecture while learning about the history of the area.

    In the morning, visit the Pashupatinath Temple to witness the morning prayers and ceremonies. Afterward, head over to the Boudhanath Stupa for a midday visit and lunch at one of the nearby rooftop restaurants. Spend the afternoon exploring the temples and palaces in Durbar Square before enjoying a traditional Nepali dinner.

  2. Day 2: Pokhara
    30 minutes (4.5km) from the Lakeside area
    • Phewa Lake (2 hours): A beautiful lake surrounded by mountains and lush forests. Take a boat ride to the Tal Barahi Temple located on a small island in the lake.
    • Sarangkot (3 hours): A hilltop with panoramic views of the Himalayas and the city of Pokhara. Go early in the morning for the best views and to catch the sunrise.

    Start the day with a boat ride on Phewa Lake to the Tal Barahi Temple. Have lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants before heading up to Sarangkot for the afternoon. Spend the evening exploring the Lakeside area and enjoying the local nightlife.

  3. Day 3: Chitwan National Park
    4 hours (167km) from Pokhara
    • Canoe ride on the Rapti River (2 hours): Spot wildlife such as crocodiles, birds, and maybe even rhinos from a traditional canoe.
    • Elephant Safari (2.5 hours): A unique way to explore the park and spot animals such as tigers, elephants, and deer.
    • Tharu Cultural Show (1 hour): A showcase of traditional Tharu culture including music, dance, and costumes.

    Head to Chitwan National Park in the morning and start with a canoe ride on the Rapti River. After lunch, go on an elephant safari to view the wildlife. End the day with a cultural show and a traditional Nepali dinner.

  4. Day 4: Nagarkot
    1.5 hours (32km) from Kathmandu
    • Nagarkot View Tower (2 hours): A hilltop with stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas and the Kathmandu Valley. Go early in the morning to catch the sunrise.
    • Changu Narayan Temple (2 hours): A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest temples in Nepal. Admire the intricate carvings and learn about the Hindu gods and goddesses.
    • Bhaktapur Durbar Square (2 hours): A historic square with numerous temples, palaces, and courtyards. Marvel at the intricate wood carvings and architecture while learning about the history of the area.

    Take an early morning drive to Nagarkot to catch the sunrise from the View Tower. After breakfast, visit the Changu Narayan Temple and then head to Bhaktapur Durbar Square for an afternoon of exploring. End the day with dinner in Bhaktapur before heading back to Kathmandu.
