Three-day Family Friendly Itinerary for Mysore in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mysore Palace
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Mysore Zoo

    In the morning, visit the Mysore Palace, one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city. The palace has a unique blend of Hindu, Islamic, Gothic, and Rajput styles of architecture. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery and Auditorium, which has an impressive collection of Indian paintings. In the evening, take a stroll through the Brindavan Gardens, a beautiful garden located near the KRS Dam built on the Kaveri River.

  2. Day 2: Mysore Zoo and Karanji Lake
    15 minutes (5 km) from St. Philomena's Church

    Spend the morning at Mysore Zoo, also called the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, which has a large number of exotic animals and birds. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Karanji Lake, which is a popular spot for boating, bird watching, and nature walks. In the evening, visit the famous St. Philomena's Church, which has an impressive Neo-Gothic style of architecture.

  3. Day 3: Chamundeshwari Temple and KRS Dam
    30 minutes (14 km) from Mysore Palace

    In the morning, visit the Chamundeshwari Temple, located on top of Chamundi Hills, which is one of the most sacred and ancient temples in South India. In the afternoon, head to the KRS Dam, which is a popular picnic spot and also offers boating facilities. In the evening, visit the nearby Brindavan Gardens, which are beautifully illuminated after sunset.

Make sure to visit the Regional Museum of Natural History, which has an impressive collection of flora, fauna, and geology of South India. If you have extra time, take a day trip to the nearby Bandipur National Park, which is home to a number of endangered species such as tigers, elephants, and gaurs.
