4-Day Luxury Itinerary for Agra in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Taj Mahal
15 minutes (5.3 km) from Agra Fort

Start your day early and head to the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The white marble mausoleum was built in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Spend the morning admiring the stunning architecture and gardens. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the Mughal Empire's power. As the sun sets, return to the Taj Mahal to see it in a different light and take a romantic sunset boat ride on the Yamuna river.

  2. Day 2: Fatehpur Sikri
1 hour 15 minutes (40 km) from Taj Mahal

Spend your morning indulging in a luxurious breakfast before embarking on a day trip to Fatehpur Sikri. This deserted city was built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century and is a perfect example of Mughal architecture. Visit the Panch Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, and Buland Darwaza. Return to Agra in the evening and enjoy a fine dining experience at one of the city's many restaurants.

  3. Day 3: Itmad-ud-Daulah
20 minutes (8 km) from Taj Mahal

On your third day, visit the Itmad-ud-Daulah, also known as the Baby Taj. This Mughal mausoleum is often referred to as a draft of the Taj Mahal and is the tomb of Mirza Ghiyas Beg, the grandfather of Mumtaz Mahal. Spend the afternoon shopping for souvenirs and handicrafts at the local markets. In the evening, attend the Mohabbat The Taj Show at Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Center, a musical extravaganza that tells the love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.

  4. Day 4: Mehtab Bagh and Akbar's Tomb
    30 minutes (8.5 km) from Itmad-ud-Daulah

Start your day with a visit to Mehtab Bagh, a beautiful garden located across the Yamuna river from the Taj Mahal. This garden offers a stunning view of the Taj Mahal and is a perfect spot for a morning picnic. Next, visit Akbar's Tomb, the final resting place of Emperor Akbar. The tomb is located in Sikandra and is a perfect example of Mughal architecture. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing spa treatment at your hotel before departing Agra.

Recommendations
