Assi Ghat is a famous ghat where many locals gather for bathing in the morning. It is also an ideal place to spend some peaceful time by the riverside. In the morning, take a boat ride to see the sunrise while observing the rituals performed by the locals. Afternoon could be spent exploring the nearby markets or visiting the famous Banaras Hindu University. Evening could be spent attending the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat, which is a grand spectacle of spirituality and devotion.

  2. Day 2: Sarnath

Sarnath is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site, where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon. The place is home to several ancient stupas, temples and museums, all of which depict the history and significance of Buddhism. In the evening, head back to Assi Ghat to attend the Ganga Aarti ceremony for a different experience.

Recommendations

Other local attractions worth considering are Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Manikarnika Ghat, and Ramnagar Fort. A side trip to Chunar Fort, located 30 km away, is also recommended. To maximize your fun, try taking a local tuk-tuk or a cycle-rickshaw ride to explore the narrow lanes and alleys of Varanasi. Don't forget to bargain while shopping in the local markets.
