A 3-Day Itinerary for Exploring Udaipur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: City Palace
10 minutes (2.5 km) from Udaipur City Railway Station

Start your day by exploring the City Palace, a stunning complex of palaces, courtyards, and gardens that dominates the Udaipur skyline. Built over several centuries by different Rajput rulers, the palace showcases a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles. You can explore the palace's many rooms and galleries, including the Crystal Gallery, which houses a collection of crystal objects, and the Vintage & Classic Car Museum, which displays a collection of antique cars. In the afternoon, head to Lake Pichola and take a boat ride to Jag Mandir, an island palace that was a summer resort for the royal family. End your day with a visit to the Bagore Ki Haveli, a restored 18th-century mansion that houses a museum showcasing Udaipur's traditional arts and crafts.

  2. Day 2: Monsoon Palace and Saheliyon Ki Bari
20 minutes (8.5 km) from City Palace

On day two, head to the Monsoon Palace, also known as Sajjangarh Palace, a hilltop palace built in the late 19th century as a monsoon retreat for the royal family. The palace offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and is a great place to watch the sunset. Afterward, head to Saheliyon Ki Bari, a beautiful garden built in the 18th century for the queen's maids. The garden features landscaped lawns, fountains, and marble pavilions. In the evening, visit the Shilpgram Crafts Fair, a cultural festival that showcases traditional music, dance, and handicrafts from Rajasthan and other parts of India.

  3. Day 3: Fateh Sagar Lake and Jagdish Temple
15 minutes (7 km) from Monsoon Palace

Start your day by visiting Fateh Sagar Lake, a scenic artificial lake that offers boating and water sports. You can take a boat ride to Nehru Park, an island park with a cafeteria, and enjoy the panoramic views of the Aravalli Mountains. Afterward, visit the Jagdish Temple, a 17th-century temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple's stunning architecture and intricate carvings make it one of the most beautiful temples in Udaipur. In the evening, head to the Ambrai Ghat, a popular spot to watch the sunset over Lake Pichola.
