Kanyakumari and Rameshwaram - 3 Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kanyakumari
    15 minutes (3.6 km) from Kanyakumari Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial, a peaceful place full of historical and religious significance. You can take a ferry to reach the memorial and enjoy the scenic beauty of the ocean. In the afternoon, you can visit the Kanyakumari Temple and explore its beautiful architecture. In the evening, head to the Thiruvalluvar Statue and watch the sunset from the top of the statue while enjoying the breathtaking views.

  2. Day 2: Rameshwaram
    4 hours 7 minutes (303 km) from Kanyakumari

    In the morning, visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the most famous temples in South India. It is believed that Lord Rama built this temple during his journey to Lanka. In the afternoon, visit the Dhanushkodi Beach and the Pamban Bridge, which connects Rameshwaram Island to the Indian mainland. In the evening, head to the Gandhamadhana Parvatham and enjoy the panoramic views of the island and the sea.

  3. Day 3: Rameshwaram
    20 minutes (10 km) from Ramanathaswamy Temple

    In the morning, visit the Agni Theertham, a sacred bathing spot where Lord Rama is said to have taken a dip before his battle with Ravana. In the afternoon, visit the Kothandaramaswamy Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana. In the evening, head to the Rama Setu Bridge, also known as Adam's Bridge, a natural bridge of limestone shoals that connects India with Sri Lanka.

Recommendations

While in Kanyakumari, you can also visit the Vivekananda Kendra, a spiritual and cultural center, and the Kanyakumari Wax Museum, which has wax statues of famous personalities. If you have extra time, consider taking a day trip to the nearby town of Nagarcoil, which is known for its beautiful temples and churches.

In Rameshwaram, you can also visit the Rama Tirtham, a natural spring believed to have been created by Lord Rama's arrow, and the Jada Tirtham, a holy pond where Lord Rama is said to have washed his hair.
