Family-Friendly 5-Day Itinerary for Udaipur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: City Palace
    10 minutes (3 km) from Udaipur City Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the magnificent City Palace complex which includes several palaces built over 400 years by different rulers of the Mewar dynasty. Inside, you'll find beautiful gardens, courtyards, and galleries displaying royal artifacts. In the afternoon, head to Saheliyon-ki-Bari, a garden built for the queen's entourage with fountains and lotus ponds. In the evening, take a boat ride on Lake Pichola to enjoy the sunset and see the iconic Lake Palace.

  2. Day 2: Monsoon Palace and Vintage Car Museum
    45 minutes (14 km) from City Palace

    In the morning, visit the Monsoon Palace, a hilltop palace with stunning views of the Aravalli Mountains and the city. You can also see the Monsoon Palace in the James Bond movie Octopussy. In the afternoon, visit the Vintage Car Museum which has a collection of classic cars, including some that were used by the royal family. In the evening, explore the local market near Clock Tower and try some street food.

  3. Day 3: Kumbhalgarh Fort and Ranakpur Jain Temple
    2 hours (84 km) from Udaipur

    In the morning, head to Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is the second-longest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. The fort has 360 temples and stunning views of the Aravalli Mountains. In the afternoon, visit the Ranakpur Jain Temple, a complex of marble temples with intricate carvings and a peaceful atmosphere. In the evening, return to Udaipur and enjoy a cultural show at Bagore Ki Haveli.

  4. Day 4: Fateh Sagar Lake and Shilpgram

    In the morning, visit Fateh Sagar Lake, a scenic lake with three islands and a park. You can hire a boat or enjoy street food at the food stalls. In the evening, return to the city and enjoy a rooftop dinner at Ambrai Restaurant overlooking Lake Pichola.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can take a day trip to Chittorgarh Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest fort in India. You can also visit the Jaisamand Lake, the second-largest artificial lake in Asia, and the nearby Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary.
