3-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary for Vaishno Devi in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir

    Evening: Head back to Katra and rest for the day.

  2. Day 2: Bhairavnath Temple and Ardhkuwari
    Bhairavnath Temple: 2.5 km from Vaishno Devi Temple, Ardhkuwari: 4.5 km from Bhairavnath Temple

    Morning: Start early to avoid crowds and visit Bhairavnath Temple. The trek is steep and takes around 1-2 hours. The temple is dedicated to Bhairav, the demon god, and is an important stopover for the pilgrimage.

    Afternoon: Trek further to reach Ardhkuwari, which is believed to be the place where Mata Vaishno Devi meditated for nine months. The trek is around 2 hours. You can visit the cave and offer your prayers.

    Evening: Return to Bhairavnath Temple and then to Katra.

  3. Day 3: Nau Devi Temple and Shiv Khori
    Nau Devi Temple: 16 km from Katra, Shiv Khori: 68 km from Nau Devi Temple

    Morning: Hire a taxi to Nau Devi Temple, which is a complex of nine temples dedicated to various goddesses. The drive takes around 45 minutes.

    Afternoon: After visiting Nau Devi Temple, continue the drive to Shiv Khori, which is a cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The drive takes around 2 hours. The cave has a natural formation of a Shiva Lingam and various other formations.

    Evening: Return to Katra and explore the local market for souvenirs.
