3-Day Adventure Itinerary for Munnar in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Eravikulam National Park
    30 minutes (9.2 miles) from Munnar

    Start your day early and head to Eravikulam National Park, the first item of your itinerary. This park is known for its rich biodiversity and wildlife, including the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Take a guided trek to Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India, to have a panoramic view of the hills and valleys. Afternoon, you can visit the Tea Museum to learn the history and processing of tea and enjoy a hot cup of tea with freshly baked snacks. In the evening, go to Kolukkumalai Tea Estate for a jeep safari. You can also go trekking in the estate and see the tea-making process.

  2. Day 2: Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours (40 miles) from Munnar

    Start your day early for an adventure to the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to various endangered and vulnerable species such as Indian Star Tortoise, Grizzled Giant Squirrel, and Indian Elephant. Take a guided nature walk through the sanctuary and a visit to the Thoovanam falls. Afternoon, head to the Marayur Sandalwood Forests, located in the foothills of the Western Ghats. You can go for a trek to see the ancient Dolmens and Rock Paintings of Marayur. In the evening, you can go for camping in the forest with prior permission from the Forest Department.

  3. Day 3: Top Station
    1 hour 20 minutes (28.8 miles) from Munnar

    Start your day early and head to Top Station, the highest point on the Munnar-Kodaikanal Road. This place is known for its expansive views of the Western Ghats and the valley of Theni district. You can take a trek through the Shola forest to reach the Top Station. Afternoon, head to the Mattupetty Dam, which is a popular picnic spot and known for its scenic beauty. You can also enjoy boating in the dam. In the evening, you can visit the Attukad Waterfalls and enjoy the scenic beauty of the waterfall.
