Two-Day Itinerary for Varanasi in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Assi Ghat
    20 minutes (3.8 km) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    Begin your day by visiting Assi Ghat, one of the most famous ghats in Varanasi. Take a boat ride on the Ganges River to witness the sunrise. After the ride, explore the nearby cafes and shops. In the afternoon, visit the Banaras Hindu University and see the Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum, displaying a collection of paintings, sculptures, and textiles. End your day at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Witness the grand evening Aarti ceremony, which takes place every day at 7 pm.

  2. Day 2: Sarnath
    30 minutes (12 km) from Varanasi Junction Railway Station

    Start your day with a visit to Sarnath, where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon. Visit the Sarnath Archaeological Museum, which has a collection of Buddhist artifacts, including the Lion Capital of Ashoka. After lunch, head to the Ramnagar Fort, located on the eastern bank of the Ganges river. Witness the evening Aarti ceremony at the fort, which starts at 6 pm. End your day by taking a stroll on the Dashashwamedh Ghat and witnessing the Ganga Aarti ceremony, which takes place every day at 7 pm.
