Approximately 35 minutes (32 km) from Jammu Airport

In the morning, arrive at Jammu Airport, and then drive towards your hotel in Katra. After checking-in and freshening up, explore the city of Katra, which is famous for its quaint bazaars and scrumptious street food. You can also visit the Vaishno Devi Temple located within the city limits. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel for the night.

  2. Day 2: Vaishno Devi Trek
Approximately 1 hour (12 km) distance from Katra

Today, early in the morning, start your trek towards the Vaishno Devi Temple. This sacred temple is located on top of a hill, and the trek takes about 5-6 hours to complete. The trek is quite challenging, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water and snacks. Once you reach the temple, take blessings from the Goddess and explore the area before making your way back to your hotel in Katra for a well-deserved rest.

  3. Day 3: Shivkhori and Baba Dhansar
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes (65 km) distance from Katra

Today, start your day by visiting Shivkhori, which is a mystical cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The cave is situated in a serene location surrounded by lush green forests. After that, head to Baba Dhansar, a beautiful waterfall situated in the Reasi district of Jammu. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the waterfall and spend some time soaking in the natural beauty of the place. Return to your hotel in Katra in the evening for dinner and a good night's sleep.

  4. Day 4: Adhkunwari and Departure
Approximately 1 hour (6 km) distance from Katra

On your last day, visit Adhkunwari, a small cave temple located midway on the trek to the Vaishno Devi Temple. The cave is believed to be the place where the Goddess meditated for nine months before killing the demon Bhairav. After that, return to your hotel and check-out. You will be driven to the Jammu airport for your return flight home.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can visit Patnitop, a hill station located about 3 hours from Katra. The place is known for its scenic views, adventure activities and snow-covered mountains in March. You can also visit the Raghunath Temple in Jammu, which is considered one of the largest temple complexes in North India. Don't forget to try the local delicacies of Jammu and Kashmir, such as rajma chawal, dum aloo, rogan josh, and kehwa.

If you're looking to maximize your fun, consider hiring a local guide who can show you around the city and take you to the best places for food and shopping. Also, make sure you carry warm clothes as the temperatures can drop significantly, especially during the night.
