Begin your day with a visit to the Mysore Palace - an architectural marvel and the official residence of the Wadiyars, the royal family of Mysore. Built-in 1912, the palace is a blend of Hindu, Gothic, Rajput, and Islamic styles of architecture. The morning light illuminates the palace in a unique way, so make sure you arrive early to avoid the crowds. Inside, you'll find intricate carvings, beautiful paintings, and stunning stained-glass windows. After your tour, head to the palace grounds for a stroll or a picnic. In the afternoon, take a short drive to the Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery and Auditorium. The gallery boasts an extensive collection of traditional Mysorean paintings, while the auditorium hosts a vibrant cultural program throughout the year. In the evening, head to the nearby Kukkarahalli Lake for a leisurely boat ride and watch the sunset over the water.

  2. Day 2: Chamundi Hill
20 minutes (8 km) from the city center

Start your day early with a drive to Chamundi Hill, the highest point in Mysore. The hill is home to the famous Chamundeshwari Temple, one of the most sacred in southern India. Climb the 1,008 steps to the top and take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the city. After your temple visit, head to the nearby Nandi Statue, a beautiful sculpture of the sacred bull Nandi. From there, make your way to the Mysore Zoo, home to over 150 species of animals, including tigers, elephants, and giraffes. The zoo is also home to a beautiful botanical garden, where you can take a leisurely stroll. In the evening, head to the Brindavan Gardens, located about 20 km outside Mysore. The gardens are famous for their colorful fountains, musical shows, and a light and sound show that takes place every evening.
