Bangkok 6-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace
    30 minutes (9.3 km) from Suvarnabhumi Airport

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This is one of the most important temples in Thailand, located within the Grand Palace complex. Take time to admire the intricate craftsmanship that adorns the temple's walls and roofs, and then head to the Grand Palace to explore the former residence of the King of Thailand. Afternoon: Take a tuk-tuk ride to the Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Be amazed by the statue's size, and then explore the temple's beautiful gardens. Evening: Visit the Asiatique The Riverfront, an open-air mall with a Ferris wheel and plenty of restaurants and shops, for a perfect end to your day.

  2. Day 2: Chatuchak Market and the Jim Thompson House

    Morning: Take a BTS Skytrain ride to the Chatuchak Market, one of the world's largest outdoor markets. Browse through its thousands of stalls, and try some of the delicious street food. Afternoon: Take a taxi to the Jim Thompson House, a beautiful teakwood house that was once home to the American entrepreneur Jim Thompson. Explore the house and its lush gardens, and learn about Thompson's impact on the Thai silk industry. Evening: Head over to the Siam Paragon, one of Bangkok's swankiest malls. Enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants and browse through the high-end shops.

  3. Day 3: Wat Arun and the Bangkok National Museum
    30 minutes (10.5 km) from Siam Paragon

    Morning: Catch a ferry across the Chao Phraya River to the Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn. Climb to the top of the temple for a stunning view of the city. Afternoon: Take a taxi to the Bangkok National Museum, the largest museum in Southeast Asia. Learn about Thailand's history and culture through the museum's many exhibits. Evening: Head to the Khao San Road for a fun night out. This street is packed with bars and clubs, and is a popular spot for backpackers and travelers.

  4. Day 4: Chinatown and the Wat Traimit
    20 minutes (7.3 km) from Khao San Road

    Morning: Start your day in Bangkok's Chinatown. Explore the many stalls and shops, and try some of the delicious Chinese food. Afternoon: Take a taxi to the Wat Traimit, home to the world's largest solid gold Buddha statue. Learn about the statue's history and admire its beauty. Evening: Visit the Sky Bar at the Lebua State Tower for a stunning view of the city. Enjoy a drink and watch the sunset over Bangkok.

  5. Day 5: Ayutthaya Historical Park
    1 hour 30 minutes (79.8 km) from Sky Bar at the Lebua State Tower

    Morning: Take a day trip to the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the many temples and ruins, and learn about the history of Thailand's ancient capital. Afternoon: Take a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River to see the city from a different perspective. Evening: Enjoy a traditional Thai massage at one of Bangkok's many spas.

  6. Day 6: Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market and Wat Saket
    30 minutes (12.4 km) from Traditional Thai Massage Spa

    Morning: Visit the Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market, a smaller and less touristy market than the Chatuchak Market. Try some of the delicious food and shop for unique souvenirs. Afternoon: Take a taxi to the Wat Saket, also known as the Golden Mount. Climb to the top of the temple for a stunning view of the city. Evening: End your trip with a dinner at the Eat Me restaurant, known for its creative international cuisine.
