Exploring Mangalore's Natural Wonders in June 2023

  1. 7:30 AM: Pilikula Nisargadhama

    Start your day early with a visit to Pilikula Nisargadhama, a nature lover's paradise. Spread over 370 acres, this park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including deer, peacocks, and rabbits. Take a walk or a boat ride around the lake or the golf course. Don't miss the Dr Shivaram Karanth Biological Park, home to big cats, primates and other animals.

  2. 10:00 AM: Tannirbhavi Beach
    35 minutes (9.6 miles) from Pilikula Nisargadhama

    Drive to Tannirbhavi Beach to enjoy the serene atmosphere and the sound of the waves. Take a dip in the sea or simply relax on the golden sand. This beach is less crowded than others in the area, making it a great place to unwind. You can also try some local snacks and seafood at the shacks nearby.

  3. 12:00 PM: Kadri Manjunath Temple
    20 minutes (5.5 miles) from Tannirbhavi Beach

    Immerse yourself in history and spirituality at the Kadri Manjunath Temple, one of the oldest temples in South India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its bronze statue of the God in a sitting posture. The temple premises also house other shrines, a garden and a pond. Don't forget to check out the temple's ancient inscriptions and sculptures.

  4. 2:00 PM: Netravathi River Bridge
    15 minutes (4.5 miles) from Kadri Manjunath Temple

    Take a scenic drive to the Netravathi River Bridge, also known as the Thokkottu Bridge. This iconic bridge offers stunning views of the river and the surrounding greenery. You can walk on the pedestrian pathway and take in the fresh air. The bridge is especially beautiful during sunset.

  5. 4:00 PM: Panambur Beach
    25 minutes (7 miles) from Netravathi River Bridge

    End your day at Panambur Beach, a popular spot among locals and tourists alike. Take a stroll on the long stretch of sand or try some water sports such as jet skiing or parasailing. You can also watch the fishermen bring in their catch of the day or enjoy the sunset. Don't forget to try some street food and ice cream from the vendors.

If you have extra time, head to St. Aloysius Chapel to see its beautiful frescoes and paintings. You can also visit the Ullal Beach or the Sultan Battery watchtower for a different beach experience. For a side trip, consider driving to the nearby Kudroli Gokarnath Temple or the Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple. To maximize your fun, pack sunscreen and a hat, wear comfortable shoes, and carry a camera and some snacks. Lastly, don't forget to explore the local markets and try some Mangalorean cuisine.
