3-Day Nature Itinerary for Munnar in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam
    30 minutes (13.3 km) from Munnar

    In the morning, head to Mattupetty Dam for a scenic view of the lake and surrounding hills. Enjoy a boat ride or take a leisurely walk around the reservoir. In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history and production of tea. End your day with a visit to the Kundala Lake, famous for its cherry blossoms and pedal boats.

  2. Day 2: Eravikulam National Park
    50 minutes (17.6 km) from Munnar

    Start your day early to witness the sunrise at the Eravikulam National Park. Enjoy a guided trek to spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, along with other species of flora and fauna. In the afternoon, visit the photo point for an excellent view of the valley and tea plantations. End your day at the Lakkam Waterfalls, where you can take a dip in the refreshing water.

  3. Day 3: Top Station
    2 hours (44.1 km) from Munnar

    Drive to Top Station, the highest point in Munnar, for a stunning view of the Western Ghats and neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Take a leisurely walk through the picturesque tea gardens and visit the Echo Point for an echo of your voice. On your way back, visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a diverse range of wildlife including elephants, leopards, and deer.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, visit the Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India, or the Marayoor Sandalwood Forests. You can also take a side trip to the charming hill station of Ooty, which is a 5-hour drive from Munnar. To maximize your fun, try paragliding at the Bison Valley in Munnar or take a spice plantation tour. Don't forget to try the local delicacies like appam, stew, and puttu.
