4-Day Nature Itinerary for Munnar in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Echo Point
    15 minutes (6.2 miles) from Munnar

    Start your day with a visit to Echo Point, a serene destination surrounded by misty hills and a calm lake. During the morning, you can take a peaceful stroll or go on a boat ride around the lake. Don't forget to shout and hear your voice echo through the hills. After lunch, head to Kundala Dam, located just a few minutes away, to witness the stunning views of the reservoir and the tea gardens. As the sun sets, return to Echo Point for a mesmerizing sunset view.

  2. Day 2: Top Station
    1 hour 10 minutes (25.6 miles) from Echo Point

    Start your day early and drive to Top Station, the highest point in Munnar which offers a panoramic view of the valley. The drive itself is beautiful, with lush green forests and tea gardens on either side of the road. On the way back, stop at Mattupetty Dam, a perfect spot for a picnic lunch. In the evening, visit the Tea Museum, just a few minutes away, and learn about the art of tea-making and its history in Munnar.

  3. Day 3: Eravikulam National Park
    40 minutes (10.5 miles) from Munnar

    Spend your day exploring the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. The park is a nature lover's paradise, with rolling hills covered in blankets of grass, rare flora and fauna, and the fresh mountain air. During the afternoon, head to Lakkam Waterfalls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by dense forests, for a rejuvenating dip. In the evening, head back to Munnar and visit the local markets for some souvenir shopping.

  4. Day 4: Anamudi Peak
    1 hour (13.5 miles) from Munnar

    Rent a bike and ride up to Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India, for a breathtaking view of the Western Ghats. The road to the peak is winding, with tea gardens and valleys on either side. After lunch, head back to Munnar and visit the CSI Church, a beautiful colonial-era church with stunning stained glass windows. In the evening, visit the Pothamedu Viewpoint for a mesmerizing view of the sunset.

If you have time, consider visiting the Attukal Waterfalls, the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, and the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary.
