7-Day Itinerary for Nepal in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kathmandu
    10 minutes (3.8 miles) from Tribhuvan International Airport

    In the morning visit Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as Monkey Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, explore Durbar Square and visit the Kumari House. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Nepalese dinner with a cultural dance performance.

  2. Day 2: Pokhara
    25 minutes (125 miles) from Kathmandu

    In the morning, visit the International Mountain Museum and learn about the geography and culture of the Himalayan region. In the afternoon, take a boat ride in Phewa Lake and see the Tal Barahi Temple. In the evening, enjoy the beautiful sunset from Sarangkot viewpoint.

  3. Day 3: Chitwan National Park
    4 hours (100 miles) from Pokhara

    In the morning, go for a jungle safari and spot some rare animals like the Bengal tiger and the one-horned rhinoceros. In the afternoon, visit the elephant breeding center and learn about their conservation efforts. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Tharu cultural dance.

  4. Day 4: Lumbini
    4 hours (100 miles) from Chitwan National Park

    In the morning, visit the birthplace of Lord Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, explore the monasteries built by different countries like China, Japan, and Sri Lanka. In the evening, visit the Mayadevi Temple and meditate in peace.

  5. Day 5: Nagarkot
    5 hours (150 miles) from Lumbini

    In the morning, take an early morning drive to see the amazing sunrise view from Nagarkot, a hill station located at an elevation of 7,200 ft. In the afternoon, hike to the Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the evening, relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayas.

  6. Day 6: Bhaktapur
    1 hour (20 miles) from Nagarkot

    In the morning, explore the medieval city of Bhaktapur, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the pottery square and see the traditional way of making pottery. In the afternoon, visit the 55-Window Palace and the Nyatapola Temple. In the evening, enjoy a cup of traditional Nepalese tea and some local snacks.

  7. Day 7: Kathmandu
    1 hour (12 miles) from Bhaktapur

    In the morning, visit the Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most sacred temples of Hinduism. In the afternoon, explore the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world. In the evening, do some souvenir shopping in the Thamel district.

Recommendations

Consider taking a mountain flight to see the Himalayas from the air. You can also go for a trek to the Everest Base Camp or the Annapurna Circuit. If you have some extra time, visit the ancient city of Patan and the Manakamana Temple. Don't forget to try some traditional Nepalese cuisine like momos, dal bhat, and thukpa.
