North Goa Foodie Itinerary - August 2023

  1. Day 1: Mapusa Friday Market
    30 minutes (9.5 miles) from Goa International Airport

    In the morning, take a taxi to Mapusa Friday Market, one of the oldest markets in North Goa. Here, you can feast on a variety of local food such as Goan sausages, samosas, fish cutlets, and banana chips. In the afternoon, head to Baga Beach for a relaxing swim and some more food. You can try the famous Goan fish curry or the vindaloo. In the evening, go to Thirsty Bear, a lively bar in Calangute, where you can enjoy some locally brewed beer and live music.

  2. Day 2: Assagao and Siolim
    20 minutes (6.5 miles) from Calangute

    In the morning, go to Gunpowder restaurant in Assagao for a delicious breakfast. Try the Kheema Pao or the Prawn Balchao with poi. After that, head to Siolim to see the famous St. Anthony's Church. In the afternoon, go to Baba Au Rhum, a French bakery in Anjuna, for some delectable desserts such as chocolate eclairs and tarts. In the evening, go to Antares, a beachside restaurant in Vagator, for some amazing seafood and cocktails.

  3. Day 3: Panaji and Dona Paula
    30 minutes (7.5 miles) from Vagator

    In the morning, go to Viva Panjim, a cozy restaurant in Panaji, for some traditional Goan breakfast such as poee bread and choris pao. After that, go to the Reis Magos Fort for some sightseeing. In the afternoon, go to Black Sheep Bistro in Panaji for some fusion food such as pork belly sliders and prawn risotto. In the evening, head to Dona Paula for some sunset views and enjoy some street food such as pani puri and bhel puri from the local vendors.

Other local attractions you should consider are the Aguada Fort, Chapora Fort, and the Anjuna Flea Market. You can also take a day trip to the Dudhsagar Falls or the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. To maximize your fun, try some adventure sports such as parasailing, jet skiing, and banana boat rides. You can also take a cycling tour of Old Goa to explore its architecture and history. Don't forget to try some local drinks such as cashew feni and kokum sherbet.
