4-Day Itinerary for Delhi, Haridwar and Rishikesh

  1. Day 1: Delhi
    Indira Gandhi International Airport to Lotus Temple (10.2 miles, 30 minutes)

    Start your day by visiting the Lotus Temple, a Bahá'í House of Worship with a beautiful flower-like design. Spend some time meditating or simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Afterward, head to Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 16th century. Finally, visit Qutub Minar, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's tallest brick minaret.

  2. Day 2: Delhi to Haridwar
    Haridwar Railway Station to Har Ki Pauri (2.5 miles, 15 minutes)

    Start your day by taking a train from Delhi to Haridwar. Once you arrive, head to Har Ki Pauri, a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganges River. Take a dip in the holy waters and witness the Ganga Aarti, a beautiful ceremony of lights and music that takes place in the evening. Afterward, head to the nearby Chandi Devi Temple, accessible via cable car, for stunning views of the city and the river.

  3. Day 3: Haridwar to Rishikesh
    Lakshman Jhula to Parmarth Niketan (1.5 miles, 15 minutes)

    Start your day by crossing the famous Lakshman Jhula, a suspension bridge over the Ganges River. Visit the Beatles Ashram, where the famous band once stayed and meditated. Afterward, head to Parmarth Niketan, a spiritual center with beautiful gardens and daily yoga classes. End your day with a visit to Triveni Ghat, where you can witness the Ganga Aarti and release a diya (small candle) into the river.

  4. Day 4: Rishikesh
    Ram Jhula to Neer Garh Waterfall (5.3 miles, 30 minutes)

    Start your day with a visit to Ram Jhula, another famous suspension bridge over the Ganges River. From there, head to Neer Garh Waterfall, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Take a dip in the cold water or simply enjoy the scenery. Afterward, visit the nearby Neer Garh Fort for stunning views of the area. End your day with a visit to the Tera Manzil Temple, a unique multi-story temple that offers panoramic views of the city.

Recommendations

If you have extra time in Delhi, consider visiting the Red Fort or the Jama Masjid mosque. In Haridwar, you can also visit the Mansa Devi Temple or the Patanjali Yogpeeth Ashram. In Rishikesh, consider taking a rafting trip down the Ganges River or visiting the Rajaji National Park.
