A Day in Munnar - June 2023

  1. 8:00AM: Mattupetty Dam
    15 minutes (5.4 miles) from Munnar town center

    Enjoy a morning walk around the beautiful Mattupetty Dam. There are plenty of picnic spots and boating facilities available. You can also take a short hike to the nearby Shola forest.

  2. 10:00AM: Tea Museum
    15 minutes (3.9 miles) from Mattupetty Dam

    Learn about the history and production of tea in the region at the Tea Museum. There are exhibits and demonstrations on tea processing and tasting. Don't forget to try some of the delicious tea at the end of the tour.

  3. 12:00PM: Lunch at Rapsy Restaurant
    10 minutes (2.7 miles) from Tea Museum

    Indulge in some delicious local cuisine at Rapsy Restaurant. Try out their Kerala style biryani or some traditional seafood dishes. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance and friendly staff.

  4. 2:00PM: Top Station
    1 hour 15 minutes (26.4 miles) from Rapsy Restaurant

    Take a scenic drive up to Top Station which offers breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. You can also trek to the nearby Echo Point for some adventure. Please note that the road to Top Station is closed during the monsoon season.

  5. 5:00PM: Blossom Hydel Park
    1 hour 10 minutes (26.3 miles) from Top Station

    End your day with a relaxing stroll around the Blossom Hydel Park. The park has beautiful gardens, walking trails, and a playground for children. You can also enjoy some snacks and refreshments at the park's cafeteria.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Eravikulam National Park which is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. The park is open from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. You can also take a side trip to the nearby hill station of Devikulam which is known for its scenic beauty and natural hot springs. To maximize your fun, consider taking a guided trek to the Meesapulimala peak which is the second-highest peak in the Western Ghats. Finally, don't forget to try some of the local spices and handicrafts at the local markets.
