Nepal 4-Day Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kathmandu Durbar Square
    20 minutes (4.5 km) from Tribhuvan International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to many temples, palaces, and ancient buildings. In the afternoon, head to the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, which features a large white stupa with golden spires and a variety of shrines and temples. In the evening, explore the lively Thamel neighborhood, known for its shops, restaurants, and bars.

  2. Day 2: Patan Durbar Square

    After breakfast, visit the Patan Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to many temples, palaces, and courtyards. In the afternoon, explore the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world and an important center of Tibetan Buddhism. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner with a cultural show.

  3. Day 3: Pokhara
    6 hours (200 km) from Patan Durbar Square

    Take an early morning flight to Pokhara, a scenic city located at the base of the Annapurna mountain range. In the morning, take a boat ride on Phewa Lake and visit the Tal Barahi Temple, a pagoda-style temple located on a small island in the lake. In the afternoon, visit the International Mountain Museum and learn about the history and culture of the Nepalese Himalayas. In the evening, enjoy the beautiful sunset view from Sarangkot Hill.

  4. Day 4: Chitwan National Park
    4 hours (146 km) from Pokhara

    After breakfast, drive to Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best wildlife-viewing national parks in Asia. In the morning, take a jungle walk and see many animals such as rhinos, elephants, and tigers. In the afternoon, take a canoe ride down the Rapti River and see many different varieties of birds. In the evening, relax and enjoy a cultural program featuring Tharu stick dance.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples in the world, or taking a side trip to the Everest Base Camp. To maximize your fun, try some adventurous activities like paragliding, bungee jumping, or zip-lining. Make sure to try some local Nepali dishes like momos, dal bhat, and chow mein. Lastly, don't forget to bargain when shopping in the markets!
