3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Mysore in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Mysore Palace
    10 minutes (2.1 km) from Mysore Junction Railway Station

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the stunning Mysore Palace, also known as the Amba Vilas Palace. The Palace is a perfect blend of Indian, Islamic, and European architectural styles. The Palace is open from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

    Afternoon: Stroll through the Palace grounds and gardens, and savor the beauty of the Palace from every angle. For lunch, head to the nearby Green Leaf Restaurant, which offers delicious vegetarian food.

    Evening: Explore the bustling Devaraja Market, which is located just a few minutes' walk from the Palace. The market offers a wide variety of traditional Mysore handicrafts, silk sarees, sandalwood products, and more.

  2. Day 2: Brindavan Gardens and Chamundeshwari Temple
    1 hour (20 km) from Mysore Palace

    Morning: Drive to Brindavan Gardens, which is located 20 km from Mysore Palace on the banks of the Kaveri River. The Gardens are open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It is a beautiful garden with a musical fountain show that takes place in the evenings.

    Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at the nearby Indra Cafe. After lunch, visit the Chamundeshwari Temple, which is located on top of Chamundi Hills. The temple is open from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM and from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

    Evening: Visit the Nandi Bull statue, located 500m from the Chamundeshwari Temple. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of Mysore from here.

  3. Day 3: Mysore Zoo and St. Philomena's Church
    15 minutes (5 km) from Chamundeshwari Temple

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Mysore Zoo, which is located just a few kilometers from Chamundeshwari Temple. The zoo is open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

    Afternoon: For lunch, head to the nearby Hotel RRR Restaurant. After lunch, visit the St. Philomena's Church, which is located in the heart of Mysore. The church is open from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

    Evening: Take a walk around the beautiful and historic University of Mysore, which is located just a few minutes' walk from St. Philomena's Church. The University is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
